Tune-UP
(Software Issues)
About 95% of the computers
that come into my shop can be fixed with a computer tune up. What can a Tune-Up
fix? Viruses, Malware, spyware and Adware infections, slowness, pop-ups,
no internet, DVD drive not showing, usb ports not working, wireless keeps
dropping, files won't download, files won't open, computer will not boot up,
computer keeps shutting down plus so much more.
Desktops
(Hardware Issues)
We work on all types of computers and operating systems. Whether your
desktop is brand new or is still running dos, we can fix it for you as long as
parts are available. We work on Windows, Mac, and Linux machines.
Computer Diagnostics will cost you $55.00 +tax. If the diagnostics shows a
piece of hardware is bad, then we replace the hardware for the cost of the part.
Example: Your computer will not boot up, no lights, no power. We
run a diagnostic on the system, Power Supply is bad, motherboard, processor,
hard drive, memory, CD/DVD drives are all good. Your cost is $55.00
(Diagnostic) +
(*Power Supply $45.00) + tax.
Note: Diagnostics for gaming computers is $55 +tax per hour
since these issues can be harder to troubleshoot.
* Any cost on parts is for generic
parts that are in my shop. Any parts that are proprietary or need to be
ordered may cost more.
Laptops
(Hardware Issues)
We fix all kinds of laptop issues from bad motherboards to cracked screens.
We have a two step diagnostic that we do for laptops.
1. We will look at a laptop free of charge when you first bring it in
to us. While you are standing there, we will determine the best we can
what the problem is based on symptoms and experience. At that point we
will give you a ball park figure on cost.
2. If the computer will not boot at all, we might need to open it up to
determine the problem. This diagnostics costs, since we have to do the
labor of opening up the computer. All that is left after that is replacing
the bad part and putting the computer back together. This will cost you
$110 (labor) plus parts and taxes.
Average prices for most Laptops, this includes parts and
labor:
DC Jack Replacement $133.75
Motherboard Replacement: $278.00
LCD Replacement $250.00
If you bought a new router and you are unable to configure it
for wireless, just bring it in with the power adapter along with your laptop and
we will configure it for you for a low price of $25.00 +tax. (We can come to
your house, but bringing it in is always more affordable).
Data Recovery
You can lose data for several reasons. We see a lot of computers come
in that the data isn't showing but the hard drive tests good. This is very
common on Vista computers. Normally, repairing the corrupt files on the
hard drive will allow the data to show up. Sometimes the drive is damaged
to the point we can not get the data off the drive. These hard drives can
still have the data recovered, but it is costly and needs to be shipped off to
another vendor.
Example of data recovery cost:
1. Computer will not boot up, but you want your data. We will
remove your hard drive from your non-working computer, insert it into another
computer. If the data is visible, we will burn it to a CD (holds 703MB)
for $5.00 +tax each, or a DVD (hold 4.7GB) for $10.00 +tax each. If you
have more than 3 DVD's of data, you might want to consider copying it to a
external hard drive, we will copy it to a drive you provide for $35.00 +tax.
2. Computer will not boot up, but you want your data. We will
remove your hard drive from your non-working computer, insert it into another
computer. If the data is not visible, we will attempt a recovery.
This process can take anywhere from 6 hours to 30 days. Once this data is recovered, it can be copied over to an
external hard drive, or a good working hard drive if you decide to fix the
computer that came in with the problem. The cost for this service is $150.00
+tax + the media to put it on.
